![]() Boards can be made public or private (and shared with specific individuals). Creating a board for each project is a great way to organize ideas found online. You can use virtually any design program you’re already using (there are templates available for most of them, too). There are a number of software options for creating mood boards. Finding images that evoke a feeling or general style are just as important as specific fonts, colors, and design elements. Not every element on the mood board has to relate directly or literally to the finished design. If designers don’t keep these differences in mind when they begin working on a mood board, the finished board likely won’t resonate with their client. These all have a significant impact on the types of inspiration collected.įor example, a website design for a corporate law firm will likely have a significantly different tone and style than one for a street fashion site aimed at teenagers. They should also keep in mind things like brand values and who the target user will be. When collecting inspiration for a mood board, designers should keep the goals of the finished project in mind. Otherwise, look to places like stock photo sites, design galleries, color palette sites like or Design Seeds, the physical environment and physical objects, typography galleries like Typewolf, and even social media ( Instagram and Pinterest can be particularly ripe grounds for finding design inspiration). ![]() Designers often keep swipe files of inspiration, which is a great place to start. Mood board ideas can come from virtually anywhere. ![]() Instead, its theme board could include things like natural textures or primary colors. For example, a kids’ clothing site might have a jungle or carnival theme, but that doesn’t mean it needs to have tigers or clowns incorporated. ![]() The theme should be closely tied to the goals of the design or brand, though it can be abstract. Settling on a theme can bring cohesiveness to the mood board as well as to the final design based on it. Textures: Any textures or patterns a design will incorporate should be included in the mood board.Įxplanations: As needed, explanations for elements included in the mood board can add context and make it easier to see how all of the different parts will work together toward the end design. Words: Words that tie into the brand or message that should be conveyed can be an important part of any mood board.įonts: Designers should include specific fonts (or at least general font styles) into their mood boards for any design where the text will be prominent. Visual Metaphors: Visual metaphors are an important part of modern advertising and branding, and can be included if appropriate. Images: These can include brand images, stock photography, product images, photos found on Instagram or other photo sharing sites, illustrations, and even things like logos.Ĭolors: Incorporating the design’s color palette is an important part of most mood boards and can be included as swatches or incorporated into images and other design elements. Here are some ideas for things to include in a mood board: The important thing is to include as many elements as needed to convey the look and feel of the design being created. A brand mood board might include a lot more elements than one for a package or website design. They’re a much lower investment than mockups and prototypes in terms of resources and time and can convey a lot about the look and feel of the final design.Įvery mood board is different, and what a designer chooses to include will vary based on the project. Mood boards are also an excellent way to refine a project’s style before diving into the actual design process. They can be a valuable resource throughout the design project, to help keep the style and aesthetic consistent and on track with a client’s goals and expectations. Mood boards can serve many purposes, starting with organizing the inspiration around a project. I’ll share an overview of how to use them in your work, along with inspiring mood board examples. Sometimes called inspiration boards, mood boards can be used for creating brand designs, product designs, website designs, and pretty much any other type of design project. Mood boards are physical or digital collages that arrange images, materials, text, and other design elements into a format that’s representative of the final design’s style. Organizing it and turning that inspiration into a more cohesive base for creating a design that wows clients and users is an entirely different beast. Finding inspiration for design projects is one thing. ![]() As a young teen Cloud learns about Sephiroth and becomes inspired to be a member of SOLDIER. He was somewhat of a loner growing up and had a hard time getting along with his immature peers. His neighbor was Tifa Lockhart, and his father died during his childhood, leaving him to be raised only by his mother. BackstoryĬloud was born in the mountainous village of Nibelheim. ![]() Cloud is expected to display more of his youthful side rather than the serious one commonly seen outside of the original game. Director and character designer Tetsuya Nomura and development leader Naoki Hamaguchi have mentioned that while Cloud may look and seem "this way," he was a dorky character in the original game. Nojima and Kitase wished to make Cloud an atypical and mysterious kind of hero. Nomura also oversaw development of his personality, along with Yoshinori Kitase and Kazushige Nojima who created Cloud’s backstory and detailed his relationship against Sephiroth. He was one of the first characters designed for Final Fantasy VII by Tetsuya Nomura, who originally envisioned him with black hair, eventually changing it to a spiky blonde to make him stand out as the main character. Yoshinori Kitase decided early on that Cloud would be the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII. CreationĬloud’s character contrasted greatly with the previous Final Fantasy VI, which had no main character. The bike also has a compartment that is capable of fitting Cloud’s fusion swords. The Fenrir motorcycle is a three-wheeled bike with extraordinary maneuvering capabilities allowing Cloud to switch from drive to reverse and stay upright without a driver. In the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie Cloud is seen to be in the possession of a motorcycle called “Fenrir” and in addition to his spiky blond hair and buster sword becomes one of his iconic possessions. As the story progresses, Cloud becomes genuinely engaged in the struggle for justice, finding meaning and inspiration in the fight against Shinra. Cloud has a blasé, unenthusiastic personality in the beginning of Final Fantasy VII, agreeing to only help AVALANCHE for the right price. Appearance and PersonalityĬloud Strife has a lean figure and is of average height, with a pale complexion and spiky blond hair and blue eyes and wields a giant sword called the Buster Sword. In addition, Cloud appears as a character in Advent Children, a computer animated science fiction drama that takes place two years after the events depicted in Final Fantasy VII. Cloud is a popular choice in Final Fantasy Cosplay, and has inspired a number of Final Fantasy Figurines and other Merchandise and Apparel. Released on March 3rd of 2020.Ĭloud Strife is also being remade and graphically updated in the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake. Believing himself to have been a SOLDIER, Cloud achieves the remarkable feats seen in the original Final Fantasy VII and its Remake.Cloud Strife is the main protagonist and made his first appearance in Square’s Final Fantasy VII, and has subsequently made appearances in a number of other releases and spinoffs, including Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Dying, Zack hands Cloud the Buster Sword so that he can become his “living legacy,” thus giving birth to Cloud’s SOLDIER persona. After a series of traumatic events, Zack escapes from the Shinra organization carrying his friend, an injured and mentally unstable Cloud, but is gunned down by a troop of infantrymen. Zack carries on the legacy of the Buster Sword but is forced to turn against the organization he worked for when it becomes clear that honor is a low priority for Shinra. Consequently, he entrusts the weapon to the newly promoted Zack. Angeal believes himself impure and incapable of the honor of a warrior (since his body contains cells of the alien entity Jenova). To him, the sword is a cherished family heirloom so important that he desperately avoids using the weapon since use “brings about wear, tear and rust.” The sword also symbolizes Angeal’s ideals of martial honor (a reflection of the traditional Japanese Bushido code). In the prequel game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, it is revealed that Zack’s mentor, Angeal Hewley, was its first owner. ![]() The Philips Hue Xamento ceiling light will also join the range later this year, providing both white and colored lights.Īnother software update worth mentioning is the ‘dynamic scenes’. There’s new bathroom lights coming to the range as well, including the chrome-plated Philips Hue Xamento recessed spots and the Philips Hue Devere ceiling light which provides indirect lighting and warm-cool lights depending on whether you want to wake up in the morning, or wind down and relax in the evening. Philips also plans to launch the Philips Hue Infuse ceiling light later this year, which can provide both white and colored light from the ceiling. It can also come as a pendant, making it an ideal centerpiece in your living room or above the dining table. It’s available in black and white and offers warm to cool tones which can suit multiple rooms around the house. If that doesn’t interest you, then the new Philips Hue Enrave ceiling light might. It’s available in both square and rectangular designs. There’s a new Philips Hue Surimu ceiling panel which features a very modern design and sits flush against the ceiling. The 1600 bulb is bigger than others in this range though. They will now be available in 11 lumens, should you need more brightness. If you’re a fan of the traditional Philips Hue smart bulbs, these too are expanding, literally. There will also be a White Filament E14 candle bulb to add to the range. The Philips Hue Filament bulbs are also now available in White ambiance, making these popular retro-looking lights more versatile in providing different tones of white light. Available in black or white, you can blend this addition in with your decor. ![]() It claims this can blend multiple colors of light into a single lamp and it sits above or below a TV. Now, it’s expanding this range to include the Play Gradient Light Tube. Last year, Philips announced its Play Gradient Lightstrip, a lightstrip which mounts on the back of a TV to reflect the colors onto the wall. From October, it will be a permanent part of the Hue app.īut, what about the new range? There’s quite a selection of new Philips Hue smart lights as of today, but here are the highlights (pun intended). You will need to enable Early access to be one of the first to try it. It will be available to a selection of users from today and will take 7 days for the update to be available to everyone. This new feature will be free to use via the Philips Hue app and it just requires a Hue Bridge and color-capable Philips Hue lights. Signify claims this will create an immersive light and music experience like no other. You can adjust the brightness and intensity, or select the colours of your choosing. It can be personalized too if the show’s not quite to your taste, via the new Sync tab in the Philips Hue app. This creates a host of possibilities depending on your musical preferences as well, whether you want some relaxing tones in the background after a hard day’s work, or you’re looking to party into the night. Think of it as an illustration to go along with the song, rather than just flashing lights to match the tempo. We’ve been able to sync Philips Hue lights to Spotify tracks for some time now, but the difference with this latest announcement is that the Hue app can now analyse the metadata of each track, meaning it can anticipate the beat and even reflect the genre and tone in the lighting. The biggest news is the improved Philips Hue and Spotify integration. ![]()
